چکیده

Arterial hypertension is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease.1 Epidemiological studies have provided unequivocal evidence for the association between arterial hypertension and mortality from ischemic heart disease, cerebrovascular accident (CVA), and vascular diseases.2 Additionally, there is a strong association between blood pressure (BP) reduction and prevention of coronary artery disease (CAD) and CVA.3

The BpTRU automatic blood pressure monitor compared to 24 hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring in the assessment of blood pressure in patients with hypertension

BACKGROUND Increasing evidence suggests that ABPM more closely predicts target organ damage than does clinic measurement. Future guidelines may suggest ABPM as routine in the diagnosis and monitoring of hypertension. This would create difficulties as this test is expensive and often difficult to obtain. The purpose of this study is to determine the degree to which the BpTRU automatic blood pres...

Blood pressure treatment adherence and control through 24-hour ambulatory monitoring.

BACKGROUND Although systemic arterial hypertension (SAH) is an important cardiovascular risk factor, blood pressure level control often remains inadequate. Assessment of adherence to antihypertensive treatment through 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) may represent an important aid in the search for BP control targets. OBJECTIVE To assess adherence to antihypertensive treatm...

Physical Activity, Hypertension Control and Quality of Life in Primary Health Care

Background: Physical activity in hypertensive patients may be associated with blood pressure (BP) control, and this control may be associated to a better quality of life(QoL). Thus, the objective of this study is to describe physical activity and QoL in hypertensive patients in primary health care, and the correlation of these variables with BP control measured through 24-hour Ambulatory Blood ...

Twenty-four-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring for clinical evaluation of hypertensive patients in primary care: which groups would most benefit?

BACKGROUND Arterial hypertension is an important risk factor for cardiovascular outcomes. Blood pressure (BP) control levels remain largely out of target among primary healthcare (PHC) patients. Twenty-four-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) may contribute toward the identification of cardiovascular risk groups. OBJECTIVE To assess concordance between conventional office BP meas...
